Why I Started the Paper-free Initiative

WalkHave you ever read an opinion, say in the Editorial section of the newspaper, and thought, “Why the heck did the author say that!?” Every venture has a backstory, and knowing it can help you understand the author’s motives and reasons for writing.  So, for those interested to know where the Paper-free Initiative came from, here you go:

As a student of technology, every day I saw ways that technology could improve my life.  I learned constantly through formal education and my own curiosity that technology could streamline my processes and make life simpler and faster.

Then, after getting married, my newlywed wife and I moved into a sub-300 square foot apartment.  The shock of having so little space for all of our stuff caused us to discover ways to drastically manage our tiny living space.

Along with my interest in technology comes a strong love for nature.  Don’t get me wrong: I’m not one of those crazy guys who camps out in a tree in Patagonia just so that a logger won’t cut it down.  I simply love our planet and look for ways to conserve its beauty.

The combination of these three things (technology, cramped living conditions, love of nature) prompted me to start this website. After finding several digital solutions for my home and work, I thought it would be fun to share them with others.  Voila! The Paper-free Initiative was born.
